Field trip to J W Marriott (Hong Kong Island)
SHTM
students in front of the J W Marriott on Hong Kong
Island
Under the leadership of the HFTP PolyU Student Chapter
founding members
Miss Daisy Shi
and
Miss Carol Cui,
16 SHTM students visited the J W Marriott on Hong Kong
Island in November 2007.
J W Marriott kindly supported this excursion and students
were able to increase their understanding of technology
applications in hotel operations, customer relationship
management, internal communication systems, as well as
contingency planning during times of crisis, such as SARS -
the latter being a great challenge to Hong Kong hotel
sector.

HFTP's
Annual Convention is the largest annual event of the
organization. It provides a platform for updating oneself
with the latest industry knowledge and meeting colleagues
working or studying in the hospitality sector. It offers
various education sections to choose from, according to
personal interest. The education sections are informative
and inspiring. For our members the HFTP scholarship offered
for attending this event is a great opportunity to get
industry exposure and learn how industry people think, as
listening to their innovative ideas and solutions to
current problems in the sector.
